Web security: malware scanning and removal

The malware scanning and removal service included in Protection Basic or Protection Pro products allows you to check your website for compromised files or viruses: in positive cases, you will receive an email notification offering removal of the malware and restoration of the compromised files.

To enable scanning of the website, go to the Malware section and click on the Abilita scansione (Enable scanning) button. Scansione Malware Sicurezza Web

Scanning can be of two types:

  • Automatic: by providing the FTP/sFTP credentials of the website, an agent (php script) is loaded that automatically performs both scanning and malware removal.

  • Manual: in this case, it is necessary to download the script file containing the agent (php script) and upload it to the website independently; once uploaded and enabled for scanning, the script will scan for malware, but will not remove it. If the scan detects one or more pieces of malware, removal can also be performed by clicking on the richiedi rimozione malware (request malware removal) button.

Automatic malware removal will only occur if the scan has been activated in automatic mode.
