It is possible to purchase a Hosting Solutions service, such as a hosting plan, for a domain registered and managed by another registrar.

Below are two possible solutions for pointing such domains to Hosting Solutions servers. By way of example, reference is made to the purchase of a hosting plan for a domain managed externally to Hosting Solutions.

The first step is to purchase a service (e.g. hosting plan). When placing the order, the system will ask for the domain to be associated with the hosting plan: specify that it is an existing domain. The control panel will also ask whether the domain indicated will be transferred at the time of purchase or later: select this second option (Transfer later), even if the domain will will never be transferred.

At this point, the user can choose one of the following solutions:

• [Solution 1] Once the hosting plan has been activated, use Hosting Solutions' DNS servers with the external domain. To do this, it is necessary to indicate the following authoritative nameservers, using the control panel of the domain registrar:
  

ns1.dnsitalia.net
ns2.dnsitalia.net
nsrm.dnsitalia.net
nsct.dnsitalia.net

ATTENTION: It is very important to ensure that no other services (for example email services) are active on the domain, otherwise the mentioned DNS change may result in the interruption of these services.

In any case, it is recommended to contact the Hosting Solutions staff directly , who will take care of the solution and:
- ensure that the website and email point to Hosting Solutions' servers;
- manage any changes to the DNS zone.

• [Solution 2] Once the hosting plan has been activated, change the DNS zone using the domain registrar's control panel. Basically, change only the "www" and "@" type A records by setting the IP address communicated by email at the time of activation of the Hosting Solutions service.
  IMPORTANT: if the email service remains external to Hosting Solutions , do not change the record "@" of type MX, but only the "@" record of type A.
