Public Cloud: Infrastructure

The hardware infrastructure of Hosting Solutions' Public Cloud

Hosting Solutions' Public Cloud Computing is provided by the primary data center in Florence.

As with the other clusters (server batteries), the one allocated for cloud computing is proactively monitored H24 with an automated system that reports any anomalies directly to the technical team. The Hosting Solutions' infrastructure is based on DELL machines with at least 96 GB of RAM for the computational part and enterprise-class NetApp NAS/SAN for storage management.

As a quality policy, Hosting Solutions does not oversell Cloud Servers: all resources (CPU, RAM and disk space) are 100% guaranteed.

Below is a summary of the features of Hosting Solutions' Cloud infrastructure.

  • Hardware: latest generation multiprocessor DELL servers
  • Storage: storage based on enterprise-class NetApp SAN (Storage Area Nerwork) connected by fibre optics to the cloud servers
  • Network: redundant connectivity with 4 national carriers
  • Nodes: automatic management of new instance allocation based on load
  • Software: OpenStack and KVM Hypervisor for Cloud Servers

OpenStack, a standard for cloud computing

Hosting Solutions’ entire Cloud Computing infrastructure is delivered via OpenStack, the opensource platform supported by more than 150 IT giants worldwide, while KVM is used as a hypervisor (cloud server virtualization technology).
