What is SIEVE?
SIEVE is a powerful and specific script language for writing, creating and customizing filters for email messages.
What is a SIEVE filter?
A SIEVE filter is an email filter written in the SIEVE language. Hosting Solutions provides users with certain types of filter (sorting, autoresponder) applied on the server and ready for customization. The user does not need to know the syntax of the language to customize it, because Hosting Solutions provides a special interface in the Webmail Avanzata (Advanced Webmail) for customizing the type of filter chosen.
The SIEVE filters provided by Hosting Solutions and customizable through the Advanced Webmail, are applied on the server, so they act on incoming messages directly on the email server. This implies that, once set by the user, they are always active, regardless of which client is used to check the email (webmail or non-web client, such as Outlook, Thunderbird and similar).
The same interface for the activation of a SIEVE filter in Advanced Webmail also allows its disabling or modification.
